Meeting Minutes

Top O’ The Rock Toastmasters
Meeting Minutes (4.01.09)
Prudential Building

Meeting Call to Order: 12:10PM

Theme: “To be fooled or not to be fooled”

Attendance: Catalina Agustin, Jemerson Diaz, John Lee, Jose Lepervanche, Steve Nguyen, Andrea Siracusa, Tom Snead and Sue Stack.

Guests: Dominique Williams and Lisa Lane. Dominique was a guest of Tom Snead, and Lisa Lane was a guest of John Lee. Both came to the meeting to see how Toastmasters works. They both were pleased with the atmosphere of our meeting, and they are looking forward to attending future meetings.

Invocation provided by Catalina Agustin

Grammarian (John Lee): Word of the day was jape. The word means to joke or make sport of. Example sentence: He tried to jape his co-worker by telling him that the boss gave everyone the day off.

Speakers
Speaker #1: Jose Lepervanche – Jose provided an impromptu speech titled “Ships of Life.” Through his speech he gave us great insight into how “in our life we are always in a ship…mother earth is the ship.” Great job Jose on providing us with an insightful speech.

Evaluations
Master Evaluator was Steve Nguyen.
Evaluator: Jemerson Diaz was the evaluator for Jose’s speech.

Table Topics
Sue Stack provided the table topics for our meeting. The table topic session went hand and hand with our meeting theme of “to be fooled or not to be fooled.” Each speaker was to talk about a topic provided by Sue; they could give us a real story or a fake story. At the end of their speech, the audience was to decide if the story was true or not. Tom, Andrea and Jemerson all tried to jape the audience – while all other speakers kept to the saying “honesty is the best policy.” Everyone, including our guests participated.

Congratulations to Jemerson who was voted best Table Topic Speaker.
