Fellow Toastmasters, 

Just for the record and following suggestions of Club President and Club Officers, we proceeded to discuss and vote to: 1. name Bob Warren as interim President to complete the term of Warren Hinrichs (due to his new job responsibilities), 2. name Printella Bankhead as interim Treasurer to complete the term of Flor Lepervanche (due to her trip), 3. both Bob and Printella will be confirmed on these roles with the rest of new officers in June for the period 2014-2015 starting on July.

Speakers:
Trey Culpepper – Trey gave his icebreaker today.   Trey’s speech was well organized and delivered.  Trey talked about where he went to college and his career as an accountant.  Time was 4:12.  

Bob Warren – Bob completed his final project (#10) from the CC Manual.  His speech was titled “Permanent Potential”.   Bob’s speech was very inspiring and he ended with a call to action for all Top of Rock members to be more proactive in promoting the growth of our club.  Time was 7:10.


Table Topics:
Table topics led by Nick Prevolos.  Nick had a shopping bag full of kitchen utensils and table topic participants were asked to speak about.
Elana spoke for 1:17.
Trey spoke for 1:07.
Steve spoke for 1:12.
Danielle spoke for 0:28   
Aaron spoke for 1:07.

Bob spoke for 0:51.

Evaluation:
 Jose served as Master Evaluator and introduced the evaluators.  Flor evaluated Trey’s speech.  Her evaluation time was 1:05.  Jose evaluated Bob’s speech.  His evaluation time was 3:06.

Speaker:
Bob gave an excellent speech today.  His speech was titled “World’s Best Profession” was Project # 9 from the  Communications and Leadeship Manual.  Project was to organize a speech that catered to the interest of the audience and.  Bob’s speech was very entertaining and informative.  We learned why professional sales is such a great profession and how we can apply the same characteristics of successful sales people (no fear of failing, problem solving, excellent communication, positive thinking) to our own career fields.   Expected time was 9 min.  Actual time was 8:55 min.

Table Topics:
Table topics led by Jonathan.  Jonathan provided a mix bag of very challenging topics for discussion.
Steve spoke about life in a swamp. Time was 0:58.
Printella spoke about April fools day prank.  Time was 1:57.
Jose spoke about a movie he would like to make.  Time was 1:12.
Kelsen spoke about the advantages of a water bed.  Time was 1:04.
Nick spoke about why dogs and cats should be allowed to marry.  Time was 1:27.
Flor spoke about creeks, streams, and rivers.  Time was 1:27.
Warren spoke about the Boston massacre.  Time was 1:53.
Bob spoke about Einstein and his quotes.  Time was 0:54.

Evaluation:
Flor Lepervanche served as Master Evaluator and introduced Steve Nguyen as evaluator for Bob’s speech.   Flor gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Word of the day – debilitating – n.  Making one weak by sapping away energy.

Best table topics speaker was Nick.

International Speech and Table Topics Contest will be March 15 at Golden Corral on Southside Blvd.  Bob and Nick will be representing Top O the Rock. 


Next meeting is March 19.  Bob will be Toastmaster.

Printella gave an excellent speech today.  Her speech was titled “Caring for Aging Parents” was Project # 5 from the Professional Speaking Manual Advanced Communicator Series.  She spoke about her experience and life lessons learned caring for her aging parents.  Printella’s speech was both informative and inspirational.   Expected time was 15 min.  Actual time was 13:46 min.

Table topics led by Jose.  The theme was “ideas”.
Bob spoke about.  Time was 1:00
Bev spoke for 1:20.
Joe spoke for 2:08.
Steve spoke for 1:10.

Evaluation:
Bob Warren served as Master Evaluator and introduced Warren Hinrichs evaluator for Printella’s speech.   Warren’s evaluation was 4:00.  Bob gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Bob gave an excellent impromptu speech today.  Bob speech was titled “Personal Development”.  Personal development, according to Bob, is a something we constantly have to work on.  Personal development consists improving ourselves spiritually, physically and financially.  Expected time was 5-7 min.  Actual time was 9:08.

Evaluation:
Steve served as Master Evaluator and evaluator for Bob’s speech.  Steve’s evaluation time was 2:30.  Steve gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Printella Bankhead completed speech no. 8 from the Basic Communication Manual.  Her speech title was “My Day at the Office”.   Printella’s speech speech incorporated lots of props (gadgets from her profession).   Projected time was 5 -7 min.  Actual time was 7:04.

Warren spoke about his greatest strength..being flexible.  Time was 2:05.
Jose spoke about the meaning of motherhood.  Time was 1:55.
Bob spoke about how to boost membership in a Toastmasters Club.  Time was 1:40.
Printella spoke about her least favorite profession…the executioner.  Time was 2:06.
Warren spoke about the meaning of friendship.  Time was 2:00.
Jose spoke about walking on a carpet of eggs.  Time was 1:40.
Bob spoke about his experience transporting relatives to and from the airport.  Time was 2:10.

Bob served as Master Evaluator.  Bob evaluated Printella’s speech.  Bob’s evaluation time was 1:36.

Club Business

Warren was officially inducted as the new club President.  He discussed his vision for the club moving forward next six months.  Officer training in the Jacksonville will be August 3.

Minute June 19, 2013

Hello Toastmaster,
 
We had an exciting meeting today.  Bob gave us a great speech about turning lemons into lemonade. He used his own experience of breaking his wrist while trying out for football and how it lead him on a journey to better health. Jose also had a great speech about his recent trip to Columbia. He talked about the large number of police and security every were and how it made him grateful to be here in America. He also talked about the traffic and how there are no roadway rules (Yikes). We also had guess from Florida Blue Toastmasters, Michelle King and Monty. Who helped out with table topics and time keeping.
 
I spoke with the folks over at the Midtown Centre and we can meet in the 2nd floor conference room on our next meeting and either the 1st floor or 2nd floor going forward. We are currently scheduled to meet on July 03, 2013 and July 18, 2013.  We will also be meeting with Florida Blue at 4800 Deerwood Campus Pkwy on the second and third Monday of each month at 5:15 p.m.
