Speakers:

Printella completed project No. 3 from the basic communication manual.  Her speech was titled “Items Used by Security Officers”.   Printella gave us a brief and interesting overview of all the tools of her trade.  Expected time was 5 – 7 min.  Actual time was 8:55.

Diana gave her first speech the icebreaker.  Diana delivered a great speech and we all got to know her a little better.  Projected time was 4 – 6 min.  Actual time was 3:53.

Table Topics:

Table topics led by Jose.

Kevin talked about his public speaking experience.  Time was 1:15.

Debbie was asked to give a 2 minute icebreaker.  Time was 1:45.

Carlos talked about his public speaking experience.  Time was 1:17.

Flor was asked why did it take her so long to join Toastmasters.  Time was 1:31.

Evaluation:

Printella’s speech was evaluated by Steve.  Evaluation time was 1:38.

Diana’s speech was evaluated by Warren.  Evaluation time was 2:26.

Warren gave an evaluation of the meeting.

Best table topics speaker was Carlos.  Best evaluator was Warren.  Best speaker was Diana.

Club Business:

Our club will be doing a demonstration meeting at the Kent Campus on November 6.  Jose, Warren and Steve have volunteered to do speeches.

Sue gave a speech from the Advanced Communicator Series.  The title was “My Advice for Yout”.  Sue talked about her Toastmaster experience and encouraged members to make the most of their Toastmaster experience by accepting officer roles and competing in contests.  Expected time was 8 - 10 min.

Table topics led by Flor.  Participants were asked about there favorite ___.

Printella talked about her favorite animal….cats.  Time was 1:27.

Steve spoke about his favorite number.  Time was 1:27.

Jose spoke about his favorite music.  Time was 2:03.

Diana spoke about her favorite food.  Time was 2:03.

Evaluation:

Steve served as Master Evaluator.  Steve evaluated Sue’s speech.  Evaluation time was 2:00.  Steve gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Warren is working on his second CC and his speech was the second project from the Basic Communication Manual – Organize Your Talk.  The title was “Fly Fishing 101”.  Warren spoke with great enthusiasm and passion about the sport of fly fishing and challenge members to try the sport.  Expected time was 5 – 7 min.  Actual time was 6:38.

Evaluation:

Jose Lepervanche served as Master Evaluator and evaluator for Warren’s speech.  Jose gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Club Business:

Area 10 Humorous Speech and Evaluation contest is Saturday September 15 at UF Shands.  Please let Jose know if you plan to compete.

Printella Bankhead completed her second speech from the Basic Communication Manual.  The title was “Positive Thinking”.  Printella spoke to members and guest about the power of positive thinking and how it helped her persevere through a difficult upbringing and not be a statistic.  Expected time was 5 – 7 min.  Actual time was 7:10.

Evaluation:

Steve Nguyen served as Master Evaluator and introduced first time evaluator Flor Lepervanche.  Flor’s evaluation time was 2:20.  Steve gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Area Governor Frances Powers gave a brief presentation about upcoming Toastmaster events and incentive programs.
