Meeting Call to Order: 12:00PM

Attendance: Jemerson Diaz, Jose Lepervanche, Andrea Siracusa, Sue Stack, Catalina Agustin, Marc Hirst, Josh Nathanson. Guests: William Clifford and Vanessa Francis.


Club Business/Announcements:


The Area 12 Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest will take place on September 26 at the Crowne Plaza. We are hoping for a good turn out from Top O’ The Rock. Any members who can attend are encouraged to register. The Club is looking at the possibility of paying for members to attend. The details of that possibility will be disclosed soon.



MEETING:

Grammarian (Catalina Agustin): Word of the day was Refulgent. The word means “Radiant".

Speakers
Speaker #1: Jemerson Diaz - Jemerson provided an interesting speech from the advanced story telling manual titled "Rumpelstilskin"
Speaker # 2: Mark Hirst - Marc provided an interesting speech (Project # 4) about "Hazards of Plastics in Our Food".


Evaluations
Master Evaluator was Jose Lepervanche
Evaluators were Sue Stack to evaluate Jemerson's Speech and Andrea Siracusa to evaluate Marc's Speech.


Table Topics:
Andrea Siracusa provided the table topic session about stories. Jose was voted as best Table Topics Speakers but he handled the ribbon to Catalina who spoke about bed sides stories without bed sides stories.

Club Business/Announcements:

Congratulations to Alison Last who was voted in as our newest member.

Welcome Alison, we are looking forward to your ice breaker speech.

Flor Lepervanche was nominated by Catalina Agustin, to serve as our new Secretary – which will relieve Sue of that duty as she continues to be VPE. That motion was second by Andrea Siracusa, and all voted affirmatively.

Congratulations Flor for becoming the new Secretary for our Club.

Grammarian (Marc Hirst): Word of the day was countermand (koun'tər-mănd'). The word means “to cancel or reverse; to recall.” Example Sentence: The rising water caused the leader of the group to countermand the order to cross the river

Speakers
Speaker : Flor Lepervanche – Flor provided her second speech in the Competent Communicator manual. Titled “How to be a grandmother,” Flor talked to us about her experience as a grandmother and some helpful steps for future grandparents.

Evaluations
Master Evaluator was Jose Lepervanche
Evaluators was Tom Snead.

Panel Evaluators: Sue Stack, Catalina Agustin and Jemerson Diaz

All other members provide feedback for Tom, as a method to help him prepare for the upcoming contest.

Table Topics:
Sue Stack provided the table topic session which was short due to the strict time limit. Mark, Jemerson and Alison each had a chance to speak.

Congratulations to Marc Hirst who was voted as the best table topic speaker.
