Minute June 19, 2013

Hello Toastmaster,

 

We had an exciting meeting today.  Bob gave us a great speech about turning lemons into lemonade. He used his own experience of breaking his wrist while trying out for football and how it lead him on a journey to better health. Jose also had a great speech about his recent trip to Columbia. He talked about the large number of police and security every were and how it made him grateful to be here in America. He also talked about the traffic and how there are no roadway rules (Yikes). We also had guess from Florida Blue Toastmasters, Michelle King and Monty. Who helped out with table topics and time keeping.

 

I spoke with the folks over at the Midtown Centre and we can meet in the 2nd floor conference room on our next meeting and either the 1st floor or 2nd floor going forward. We are currently scheduled to meet on July 03, 2013 and July 18, 2013.  We will also be meeting with Florida Blue at 4800 Deerwood Campus Pkwy on the second and third Monday of each month at 5:15 p.m.

Kevin Kochensparger (Speaker)

Bob Warren (Table Topics, Grammarian, Vote Counter)

Speakers:

Kevin Kochensparger did an impromptu speech today.  His speech title was “Responsible Pet Ownership”.  Kevin’s talk was about his very funny experience adopting some rats for pets.  Kevin also used body language very effectively during his speech.   Project time was 5 -7 min.  Actual time was 3:10.

Table Topics (Bob):

Jose, Kevin, Steve and Warren were asked about how to promote and fund a new business concept.

Jose spoke for 2:02.

Kevin spoke for 0:43.

Steve had a brain freeze and was under time.

Warren spoke for 1:15.

Second round:

Jose spoke about the meaning of “just do it”.  Time was 1:51. 

Kevin spoke about his favorite actor..Tom Hanks.  Time was 1:00.

Steve spoke about his favorite actor…Bruce Lee.  Time was 1:14.

Warren spoke about his passion for surfing.  Time was 1:15.

Evaluation:

Steve served as Master Evaluator.  Steve evaluated Kevin’s speech.  Steve’s evaluation time was 1:50.     

Word of the day – Plethora – noun.  Excess of.

Club Business

Bob is encouraging everyone to bring a guest to the next meeting.  We are proposing to move meetings back to Wednesday.
