Meeting Minutes (1.7.09)

Top O’ The Rock Toastmasters
Meeting Minutes (1.7.09)

We had a productive first of the year meeting.

We opened our meeting with an invocation provided by Connie Rhodebeck. Jemerson Diaz provided the word of the day – faze. Faze means to disturb.

Jeanne Hammond was our only speaker for the day. Her speech entitled “Revising History,” explored the story of the three little pigs, with the underline meaning that things we were told at children should not be taken at face value, we act based on past experiences. Sue Stack was Jeanne’s evaluator, and provided great feedback regarding her speech.

Tom Snead organized our Table Topics which dealt with two topics. Some speeches talked about the New Year, while the remaining topics dealt into past speeches that were used at area contests. Everyone had a chance to participate, and congratulations to Jeanne who was voted as the best table topics speaker.

Thank you to Connie who was our um/ah counter, Jacqueline Rudloff our time keeper and Warren Hinirichs our Vote Counter.

Please Note: At next week’s meeting we will be discussing a membership/participation campaign that will be implemented over the next few months to help in the drive of getting new members and participation out of current members, so please try to make it next week (Wednesday, January 14, 2009).

Having roles already assigned before the meeting allows the meeting to follow in a very stable manner, providing the best atmosphere for members and guests. Please take the time to send the roles you would like to participate in to Tom Snead (tom.snead@prudential.com) our VP of Education, if you have not already done so.

Club Officers: Remember our upcoming training will take place January 31, 2009. We need all officers to attend, as this helps us in completing our Club Success Plan. There should be a flyer posted on the blog or sent to you via email. Non-officers are also welcomed to attend the training, but this is mandatory for all officers.
