Speakers:
Bob Warren completed project no. 2 from the CC manual.  His speech was titled “Achieving Excellence via Discipline”.  Bob’s goal was to organize a speech and inspire.  Bob drew audience in with his thought provoking intro and kept us engaged with his delivery and the content of his speech.  Project time was 5 -7 min.  Actual time was 6:29.
Warren Hinrichs completed project no. 10 from CC manual speaking to inspire.  Warren’s speech was titled “4 Principles of Growing a Balance Garden”.  The garden in Warren’s speech was a symbolism for life.  Warren talked about how to grow and nurture the four plants (fitness, family, passion and faith) so that we can have a balanced and happy life.  Expected time was 5-7 min.  Actual time was 5:23.

Kevin spoke about why he should watch less television.  Time was 1:16.
Flor spoke about her fear of spiders.  Time was 1:01.
Bob spoke about his advice to his 10 year old self…get an MBA.  Time was 1:40.
Jose spoke about the magical ability to go anywhere his whimsical desires wishes.  Time was 1:20.
Printella spoke about her wish to share a meal with Jesus.  Time was 1:23.
Warren spoke about an animal that best resembles himself..fish.  Time was 1:47.

Evaluation:
Jose served as Master Evaluator.  Printella evaluated Bob’s speech.  Printella’s evaluation time was 1:40 which was under the 2:00 minimum time limit.  Jose evaluated Warren’s speech.  Jose’s evaluation time was 2:20.  Jose gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Word of the day – truncate – v. To shorten by cutting off. 
Best table topics speaker was Warren.  Best evaluator was Jose.  Best speaker was Warren.

Warren and Bob will represent Top O the Rock at the upcoming International Speech and Table Topics Contest.

Speaker:
Despite being under the weather, Printella successfully completed Speech No. 5 from the Basic Communication Leadership Manual.  The goal of the project was to use body language to enhance the speech.  The speech title was “Stand Your Ground Laws”.  Printella’s speech informed us about the Stand Your Ground Laws and she also presented some case studies.    Expected time was 5-7 min.  Actual time was 7:18.

Kevin spoke about his favorite book “Lonesome Dove” by Larry
McMurtry.  Time was 1:27.
Jose spoke about his favorite place to think, anywhere near the water.  Time was 2:06.
Bob spoke about the last time he cried..at a funeral.  Time was 1:24.
Steve spoke about his favorite dish…Vietnamese pho.  Time was 1:25.
Printella spoke about her favorite hobby…Toastmasters!  Time was 1:31.
Flor spoke about one of the great wonders of the world…Niagara Falls.  Time was 1:25.

Evaluation:
Jose served as Master Evaluator and evaluator for Jose’s speech.  Jose gave an excellent evaluation of Printella’s speech while and offered some great suggestions for Printella to work on for future speeches.  His  evaluation time was 3:08.  Jose gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Club Business:
Bob officially inducted as member of Top O the Rock.

Jose gave an impromptu speech today.  His project is from the Basic Communication Leadership Manual (second time around) and was titled “Travel Adventures”.   Jose spoke about his numerous experience in traveling around the globe and the wonders that exist locally.  Jose expressed his goal to do more traveling for the upcoming years.  Expected time was 5-7 min.  Actual time was 5:56.

Diana spoke about changes she experienced last year.  Time was 1:25.
Kevin spoke about his goals for 2013 which includes dropping some weight for better health.  Time was 1:10.
Bob spoke about goals he had accomplished in 2012.  Time was 1:13.

Kevin spoke about briefing Rip Van Winkle following his 20 year nap.  Time was 1:17.
Diana spoke about her unusual and eclectic mother in law.  Time was 2:16.
Bob spoke about his unusual pet hamsters escape and his clever plan to lure it back to its cage.  Time was 1:16.
Flor spoke about the craziest thing she bought with credit.  Time was 2:36.

Printella served as Master Evaluator and evaluator for Jose’s speech.  Printella’s evaluation time was 1:20 which was under the 2:00 minimum time limit.  Printella gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Speakers:
Warren gave a speech from the Basic Communication Manual How to Say it Project.  The speech title was “Global Challenge”.  Warren speech focused on the fiscal cliff and the European debt crisis.  Expected time 5-7 min.  Actual time was 6:28.

Steve gave a speech from the Advanced Communicator Speaking to Inform Series.  The speech title was “My Barefoot Experiment”.  Steve speech was about his experiment with barefoot running.  Expected time 7-9 min.  Actual time was 7:18 min.

Table topics led by Flor. 
Josh spoke about his least favorite profession(s), criminals and bank tellers. Time was 1:50.
Warren spoke about why he arrived at work in his pajamas.  Time was 1:05.

Evaluation:
Jose served as Master Evaluator.  Jose evaluated Warren’s speech.  Printella evaluated Steve’s speech.  Both evaluations were within time.  Students were given the opportunity to comment on the meeting.
