Club Business/Announcements:
The Area 12 Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest will take place on September 26 at the Crowne Plaza. We are hoping for a good turn out from Top O’ The Rock. Any members who can attend are encouraged to register. The Club is looking at the possibility of paying for members to attend. The details of that possibility will be disclosed soon.

Grammarian (Catalina Agustin): Word of the day was Refulgent. The word means “Radiant".

Speaker #1: Jemerson Diaz - Jemerson provided an interesting speech from the advanced story telling manual titled "Rumpelstilskin"
Speaker # 2: Mark Hirst - Marc provided an interesting speech (Project # 4) about "Hazards of Plastics in Our Food".

Evaluators were Sue Stack to evaluate Jemerson's Speech and Andrea Siracusa to evaluate Marc's Speech.
Table Topics:
Andrea Siracusa provided the table topic session about stories. Jose was voted as best Table Topics Speakers but he handled the ribbon to Catalina who spoke about bed sides stories without bed sides stories.

Congratulations to Alison Last who was voted in as our newest member.
Welcome Alison, we are looking forward to your ice breaker speech.
Flor Lepervanche was nominated by Catalina Agustin, to serve as our new Secretary – which will relieve Sue of that duty as she continues to be VPE. That motion was second by Andrea Siracusa, and all voted affirmatively.
Congratulations Flor for becoming the new Secretary for our Club.

Speaker : Flor Lepervanche – Flor provided her second speech in the Competent Communicator manual. Titled “How to be a grandmother,” Flor talked to us about her experience as a grandmother and some helpful steps for future grandparents.

Speakers:
Andrea Siracusa spoke from project 3 of the Public Relations Manual from the Advanced Communicator Series. Her speech was titled “The Bright Light Above.”
Jose Lepervanche is currently working again from the Competent Communicator manual after recently receiving his DTM. Working on Project 2, he provided the speech titled “Summer 2009 Tweets and Thoughts.”
Congratulations to Andrea who was voted as the Best Speaker.
Evaluations:
Master Evaluator was Tom Snead.
Evaluators: Sue Stack, who evaluated Andrea’s speech; and Tom Snead, who evaluated Jose’s speech.

Jemerson Diaz spoke from his last project in the Competent Communicator Manual. His speech was titled “Making Your Dreams a Reality.”

CLUB BUSINESS
- It was voted on by the members in attendance that Tom Snead will be the member from our Club to represent us in the upcoming Area 12 Evaluation Contest. The vote took place, due to Tom being the only one who was interested in competing.
We will have our Humorous Speech Contest on August 26th at Prudential. Tom and Sue are the two contestants. Please make sure to join us for our competition so we can support our contestants.
- A vote took place in regards to a permanent location for our meetings at the Midtown Business Centre Community Room. The vote was taken with the caveat that we take the next four months as a trial period to see how the new room works for the members and Club. By late October/early November we would revisit the matter and decide if we choose to move forward with the room in 2010.

Marc Hirst provided a speech from the Competent Communicator manual, titled “Massacre Inland.” While Warren Hinrichs provided a speech from an Advanced Communicator manual, titled “Focus on the Positive.”
