Toastmaster Warren changed up the meeting format by starting with table topics.

Table Topics:

Table topics led by Jose.  Participants were asked about their summer experience.

Steve talked about his Key West Vacation.  Time was 1:16.

Kevin spoke about experiencing Ichetucknee on a not so pleasant day.  Time was 1:09.

Diana spoke about her conference in nations capital.  Time was 2:12.

Speaker:

Printella Bankhead completed her second speech from the Basic Communication Manual.  The title was “Positive Thinking”.  Printella spoke to members and guest about the power of positive thinking and how it helped her persevere through a difficult upbringing and not be a statistic.  Expected time was 5 – 7 min.  Actual time was 7:10.

Evaluation:

Steve Nguyen served as Master Evaluator and introduced first time evaluator Flor Lepervanche.  Flor’s evaluation time was 2:20.  Steve gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Word of the day – Acuity – n. Emptiness

Best table topics speaker was Steve.

Area Governor Frances Powers gave a brief presentation about upcoming Toastmaster events and incentive programs.

Kevin Kochensparger completed his speech no. 2 (Organize your Speech) from the Basic Communication Manual.  The title was “The Appraisal Process”.  Kevin’s speech focused on several methods for appraising commercial property values.  Expected time was 5 – 7 min.  Actual time was 7:23.

Table topics led by Printella.  Topics were chosen from the table topics cards.

Flor spoke about how she would change the immigration law.  Time was 1:21.

Nora spoke about her best birthday celebration.  Time was 1:43.

Warren spoke about his idea for a business.  Time was 1:16.

Diana spoke about her most bizarre pet.  Time was 0:55.

Jose spoke about who should be added to Mt. Rushmore.  Time was 1:39.

Steve spoke about his most unusual credit card purchase.  Time was 1:05.

Evaluation:

Warren Hinrichs served as Master Evaluator and Evaluator for Kevin’s speech.  Warren’s evaluation time was 2:56.  Warren gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Jose Lepervanche – Jose’s speech “Be Prepared to Stop” was from the Basic Communication Manual Speaking to Inspire.  Jose used excellent body language and vocal variety to enhance his speech.  Projected time was 7 min.  Actual time was 6:28.

Steve led the table topics session.  Members were asked to talk about their favorite _____.

Kevin spoke about his favorite place to play golf.  Time was 1:10.

Catalina spoke about her favorite Filipino noodle dish.  Time was 1:44.

Steve Nguyen – Completed speech no. 4 Demonstration Talk from Advance Communication Speaking to Inform Manual. Title was “Lessons Learned from Running”. Steve shared his experience and lessons learned while training for the Gate River Run. As part of speech he demonstrated some exercises for strengthening the lower leg and feet. Expected time was 6-8 min. Actual time was 7:24 min.

Warren Hinrichs served as Master Evaluator and Evaluator for Steve’s speech. Warren’s evaluation time was 3:17 min. Warren gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Speakers:
Warren Hinrich – Warren’s speech “Funny Family Stories” was from the Advanced Communicator Series Professional Speaker. The project objective was speaking to entertain and that was exactly what Warren did. Warren shared with us a collection of very funny stories involving his family. Warren used excellent body language and sound effects to enhance his speech. Projected time was 15 min. Actual time was 16:03 min.

Sue led the table topics session.
Catlaina spoke about her husband’s humorous side. Time was 2:10 min.
Steve spoke about a camping experience in Cedar Key. Time was 1:25 min.
Sue spoke about the recent tornadoes. Time was 2:26 min.
Warren spoke about his daughter’s curious behavior. Time was 1:54 min.

Jimmy Gardner did a practice speech titled “Persuation”. This is a project from the basic Communication Manual and the object is to persuade with power. Jimmy’s speech was terrific and great speech contest candidate. Expected time was 5 – 7 min. Actual time was 7:29 min.

Jose spoke about his ideal holiday…doing nothing. Time was 1:46 min.
