Meeting 7/29/2009

We had a great meeting this week – I must say that it was auspicious! Jemerson Diaz was our Toastmaster and did a wonderful job. Marc Hirst provided our Word of the Day (auspicious) and gave us inspirational thoughts as our Invocator too. Both of the speeches were from advanced manuals (Humorously Speaking and Entertaining Speaker), so hopefully everyone was entertained. Steve Nguyen, CC, CL spoke about “Turning Failure Into Success” and I spoke about how to help your spouse by doing “Other Duties As Assigned.” Jose Lepervanche, AC-G, AL-S, evaluated Steve’s speech while Warren Hinrichs, AC-S evaluated mine.

Jose also was the Table Topics Master and asked various questions relating to getting along without cell phones and other technology. Warren also did double-duty and served as Master Evaluator. Jemerson was also a busy man – he served as Um and Ah Counter and Toastmaster. Catalina Agustin was our Timekeeper and Alison Last as our vote counter.

Winners: Steve Nguyen as Best Speaker; Jose Lepervanche as Best Evaluator; Catalina Agustin as Best Table Topics Speaker

Announcements: The Humorous Speech Contest will be on August 26 with the castle.com (Army Corps of Engineers) club. Date for the Evaluation Contest will be announced later. Contact Jemerson Diaz, Contestmaster if you want to participate in the contests.
